Irises screen small framed (Nishijin textile)
Irises screen small framed (Nishijin textile)
The motif from Korin Ogata's "Swallow and Swallow Blossoms," owned by the Nezu Museum, is available as an affordable woven art in gold thread only, without gold leaf. Asagi Nishijin Textile Art & Crafts also weaves the Tsubame-Shikka-zu folding screen.
Even with only three colors, the motifs taken from the folding screen, which has a very luxurious atmosphere due to its bold composition, gorgeous gold leaf, and rock paints using expensive minerals, spread across the entire screen in a frame, giving a different impression from the folding screen. The oxidized and darkened gold leaf is delicately expressed, and the blue color of the swallow-tail flowers is also expressed using threads dyed in different shades of blue.
